Daily Care

Stainless Steel and Titanium
• Light surface marks may develop over time with normal wear.

Its matt silver-plated dial keeps only what matters, with a minute track and hands treated with environmentally friendly luminous substance, and by leaving out the small seconds display Junghans achieves a strikingly symmetrical face.
At its heart is the self-winding J880.2 caliber, offering a stop function and a date along with up to 48 hours of power reserve. The 40mm stainless steel case stands 14.4mm tall and is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while a leather strap with a stainless steel buckle keeps the look classic. Timepiece History
Junghans was founded on April 14, 1861, in Schramberg in Germany's Black Forest, when Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law, Jakob Zeller-Tobler, set up a firm making parts for large Black Forest clocks; the first complete Junghans clocks followed in 1866. By 1903, Junghans had grown into the largest clock manufacturer in the world, and in 1918 it completed its nine-level terrace building, the Terrassenbau, which today houses the Junghans Terrassenbau Museum. Owned by the Steim family since 2009, Junghans remains based in Schramberg today.
Junghans' collaboration with the Bauhaus-trained artist and architect Max Bill began in 1956 and led to table clocks in 1958 and, in 1961, to Junghans' first line of mechanical wristwatches, which is still produced in nearly the same form. The max bill Chronoscope carries that design to a watch with a stop function. Junghans explains that the name Chronoscope comes from the Greek chronos, meaning time, and skopein, meaning to watch, and considers it a clearer term than chronograph.
